The Eldercare Team: Your Guide Through The Eldercare Maze

Helping Caregivers Through the Eldercare Maze

Just about everyone who's successfully managing elder care has been successful because of help. Lots of help. Some have used books, articles and other educational materials to teach themselves how the system works. Some have also been able to count on family and friends. Some have found community support services on their own, and some ask for help from experienced professionals.

One thing you can be sure of:  The two things all successful caregivers know are:

 Everyone has questions, and

No one can walk this path alone.

You've found your way here, and that's a pretty good indication that you, like all of us, could use some help.

Here's an overview of the help the Eldercare Team can give you. If there's something you'd like to know about in more detail, just click on the link.  See how we can help you. Ask questions.  Everything you see here has been tested by experienced caregivers who have walked this path before you.

Handbook and Articles

The free handbook "What You Absolutely, Positively Need To Know" is the place everyone should start. This simple guide helps you get together just about all the information you always have to have at your fingertips when you're caring (or getting ready to some day care for) for an elderly person.

Here you'll also find a vast variety of articles and books, and the collection is growing all the time. Browse around.

The Eldercare Team is located in Dallas, Texas. At this time we offer services and support to caregivers and the elderly in the Dallas Metropolitan area.

Caregiver Consultation

Books and self-help measures don't always answer all your specific questions. When you'd like to spend an hour or so with a professional to get answers to your personal questions, and you'd like to do it privately without your elder present, a caregiver consultation is what you're looking for. You can get answers to your questions about Medicare and Medicaid and how those systems work. We can give you options for in-home services or living alternatives, and educate you about what to expect long-term. We have a vast array of local resources we can recommend.

Geriatric Assessment

Sometimes you need someone who can take you to the next level beyond "do-it-yourself" resources. The doctor can only give you 15 minutes and can't see how your elder is really managing at home. Friends and family might be generous with advice, but they don't have the knowledge or resources you need. When what you really want is to sit down with someone who can take the time to give you an in-depth and thorough assessment of your elder and your caregiving options a complete Geriatric Assessment is the place to start.

Not sure what you're looking for, or whether I can help? You're always welcome to call (972) 395-7823 so we can explore your options. Or E-mail me. I'll get back to you as soon as I can - generally within a business day.

However you decide to start, you're ahead of the game when you start planning before a crisis. And you can be sure that one of these days there will be a crisis. The only question is, how big will it be, and will you be prepared?
