How Do We Keep The Sink
From Overflowing?

For the second time my mother left the water running in the kitchen sink with the stopper in. I know she wants to feel like she can still do the things she's always done, but this time she flooded several rooms. Is there any kind of an alarm that will let you know when the water is getting too high in a sink?

I'm sure there is such an alarm, but what if no one hears it? It would seem to me that a better answer would be something to shut off the water if no one is using it or she wanders away. You can buy industrial-strength faucets such as you see in public restrooms for several hundred dollars. Or I've seen the EZ Faucet, which attaches to your existing hardware for a lot less expense. It uses a battery-powered infra-red sensor that turns the water on when it senses hand movement under the faucet. The water stops when there is no more movement. I've seen it on Amazon, and you may be able to find it at your local hardware store, as well.
