Drinking and Hand Tremors

Printer-Friendly Format

If you are caring for someone with hand tremors you know how hard it can be to drink from a cup or a glass without splashing or spilling.

You can help them keep their dignity and their independence, as well as avoid a nasty burn from spilling hot liquid drinks by having them use a weighted drinking cup.

The weighted cup will help slow the tremors while drinking and help keep the cup upright when putting it down. If a weighted cup isn't handy, try using a straw in a spouted cup such as you can find in the toddler department. Get a few in solid colors without the cartoons or other childish decor. These will help prevent spills and embarrassment.
